New Hope Releases New Fiction Series, "Extreme Devotion" and receives Jerry Jenkins Endorsement

(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.)—Mar. 30, 2010—New Hope Publishers just released a new missional fiction series titled “Extreme Devotion” by author Kathi Macias. Award-winning author Kathi Macias has written nearly 30 books, including Beyond Me, the best-selling devotional A Moment a Day, and the popular “Matthews” mystery novels.

“I've known that New Hope would someday extend our mission through fiction that takes readers to where God is at work in our world,” says New Hope’s publisher, Andrea Mullins. “Kathi Macias shares our desire to challenge readers to live out God's love in the world.”

The first two books in the series are No Greater Love (978-1-59669-277-0, N114126, $14.99) and More than Conquerors (978-1-59669-283-1, N114129, $14.99).

Jerry B. Jenkins, coauthor of the “Left Behind” series, says No Greater Love, set in South Africa, is “a sweeping epic. . . . You’ll feel as if you were there.”     When cultures clash in a life-and-death struggle, brought to a head by the imminent overthrow of apartheid, the 16-year-old daughter of a martyred African National Congress (ANC) rebel is forced to choose between violence and revenge—or forgiveness and selfless love.

More than Conquerors takes place in Tijuana and Chiapas, Mexico. With violent crime on the rise and the political climate changing throughout Mexico, Pastor Hector Rodriguez finds himself at odds with his own Christian teachings when murder threatens the sanctity and safety of his own family.   “Writing the ‘Extreme Devotion’ series has long been a dream of mine,” says Kathi Macias. “I have a passion to partner with the persecuted church any way I can; and to help bring their plight and their courage to light through fiction is not only exciting, it’s an honor.”

Finding Your Way, A Spiritual GPS for Caregivers by Sandy Lovern

September 30, 2010—Everyone knows someone who has cared for, or is currently caring for, an aging parent or loved one. Finding Your Way: A Spiritual GPS for Caregivers offers inspiration and hope for the uncharted path ahead.

Caring for aging parents while respecting their independence can be exhausting emotionally and physically. Author Sandy Lovern, who writes from experience, shares sound advice regarding the physical, mental, relational, and other seemingly endless issues that arise for caregivers. She sheds light on how to lovingly address the emotions of both the cared-for and the caregiver, adding ideas and examples to help the aging person process his or her present changes, while encouraging caregivers to navigate the future.

About the Author
After taking care of elderly parents, Sandy Lovern realized there are a plethora of books on the clinical aspect of taking care of loved ones; however, there are few dealing with the emotional feelings of being a caretaker. “It is a new phenomenon for the baby boomer generation and the figures are alarming as to the growing number of individuals who will inevitably find themselves in this situation,” says Sandy. Sandy’s passion for ministry led her to join with others in establishing Faith Covenant Center, a church in Immokalee, Florida. Sandy has also written Engaged! A Devotional to Help a Bride-to-Be Navigate Down the Aisle (New Hope Publishers). Sandy and her husband have raised two successful children and now live in Mulberry, Florida.
